Seven (7) Arrupe volunteers of the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) participated in the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Youth Camp in GK Medsa Village in Tibungco, Davao City, on 7th-8th September 2013.  The youth camp aimed at leading young people toward greater social awareness and responsibility, specifically focused on forming the heart for service to the poor and the homeless.

Jefford Mamacus, Sarah Joy Reyes, Kahlil Denise Alcomendras, Erika De Peralta, Lyneth Egonio, Jhana Lynne Ligue, and Michelle Marie Ungab represented ADDU in the youth camp. The rest of the participants come from the different schools in Davao City.

The two-day youth camp was intended for orientation on GK, its line-up of youth activities, and other relevant projects and programs that would tap the involvement of the youth.  One of the recognized highlights of the camp was when the participants were treated to a boodle lunch, capped by a cultural presentation during the evening.

The participants stayed overnight on 7th September at the GK village and were hosted by individual families. Through their participation in the camp, they now represent GK in their respective schools as youth coordinators.  (By M. Isabel S. Actub, Arrupe Communications & Advocacy)
