This is Arrupe
The Arrupe Office of Social Formation (formerly the Social Involvement Coordinating Office [SICO]) is the social formation arm of Ateneo de Davao University in the tertiary level. AOSF is responsible for developing students, faculty and staff, following the teaching and examples of Christ, to be persons for others and, through the promotion of justice, to become leaders in the service of the poor and powerless.
AOSF aims to (1) develop and implement social formation programs and activities that will shape members of the Ateneo community into persons who are critical, discerning and responsive to changing social realities; and (2) synergize social formation and community involvement initiatives within the college unit and with the partner communities and institutions for greater service.
This change of name (from SICO to AOSF) is not really a break from its more than three-decade tradition, but a form of reaffirmation and reassertion of the core principles which are anchored on faith-based action, solidarity, subsidiarity, collective action, new forms of socio-political engagements, respect for the dignity of the human person, nationalism / patriotism, social justice, common good, and preferential option for the poor. For all intents and purposes, the Arrupe name pays tribute to one of the most important figures in the history of the Jesuits, the late Superior General Fr. Pedro Arrupe, SJ. The Arrupe name has come to mean–in Jesuit tradition–men and women for others, a life of generous service, a faith that does justice, and culture and dialogue.
